The Theme controls the coloring of events. When creating a Simple or Conference Event, the Theme pulls directly from the corresponding Community Portal's Theme. However, the Theme for Lightning Events can be overwritten with the Theme tool in Event Builder.

Update the Color Schema for a Lightning Event

  1. In Event Builder, from the left-side navigation, select Themes.

  2. In the Color Schema section, define the Color Scheme that is used throughout the Lightning Event Site.


    This is done by entering or choosing a color for each label listed. i.e. Primary Button Background Color, Primary Button Text Color, Heading Color, Text Color, Link Color, Navbar Background Color, etc.

  3. Under the Brand Primary heading, click in the Color box, which will activate the Color Picker drop down.

    1. In the Color Picker drop down, choose a color using one of the provided methods;
      • Use the HEX field to define the color
      • Click & drag the crosshair to select a color
      • Click & drag the color square to select a color gradient
    2. Click away from the color picker when done.
  4. Repeat the process for all the Color labels listed for the Lightning Event Theme.
  5. Once saved, the color changes can be seen in the Event preview.

How to Customize Events with Custom Styling/CSS

  1. Select the Events app and click the Events tab.
  2. From the Events tab page;
    1. Click the New button to create a new event or select an existing event.
    2. For a New Event, progress to the Event Builder.
    3. For an Existing Event, click the Edit button to launch Event Builder.
  3. In Event Builder, from the left-side navigation, select Themes.


    This tab will only appear when creating a Lightning Event.

  4. From the Themes tab, click the Custom CSS tab. Custom CSS allows you to customize the appearance of any page element.

  5. Type or paste any custom CSS or styling desired for your event.

Inherit Theme From Another Event

You can apply a theme from a previous event to your current event. this will help you speed up and simplify event creation.

  1. Enter the title of the event you want to inherit a theme from in the Inherit theme from another event field. Relevant events that you have access to will generate and list alphabetically with the event category displayed beneath the event title.

  2. Select the event you want to inherit the theme from.
  3. Click Update to copy all fields from the Theme tab in the selected event to the Theme tab in your event.

Images Tab

You can update images for the Banner, Thumbnail, and Event Page Logo in the Images tab.

  1. Click the Images tab to navigate to the Images fields. Image fields for a Banner,  Thumbnail, and the Event Page Logo will be available.
  2.  To upload an image for any of the three image fields, click Browse and select an image from your computer to upload. You can also enter a JPG URL manually into the field. Additionally, you can make a Media Collections hyperlink to: Media Collections.
  3.  The image will preview alongside the image field. Click to open the image in a preview.

Leaving the Banner Image field empty will result in no banner image displaying on the Event Page. The body of the Page will move up to be flush with the navigation bar on the Page.
