Credit Notes are a type of negative adjustment that can be applied to Invoice-type Sales Orders. This is useful for quickly correcting an overcharge. A Credit Note document will be created whenever it is applied to an invoice and be available to view in the Orders and Company Orders menu items, the Order Summary Builder, and from the Credit Note record page.

Within the UK/EMEA, an Invoice can not be altered once submitted to the customer. When a posted invoice is no longer needed or needs to be changed, the only approved method for Posted Invoice adjustment is via a Credit Note.

  1. Navigate to the Sales Order record the Credit Note will be applied to.

  2. Locate the Sales Order Lines related list.

  3. Check the Sales Order Lines you want to apply the Credit Note to.

  4. Click the Create Credit Note action on the related list. A new adjustment line for the amount of the selected Sales Order Lines will get created on the related list.

The new adjustment line will be posted, and the Posted Date field will reflect the current date.
