Enabling Assigned Seating allows staff users to define seating Sections for events. These sections can be tables, box seats, auditorium rows, or any other defined set of seats. Releasing Assigned Seating allows the seat to once again be available for selection during registration.

You will enable Assigned Seating from the Optional Event Types section in the Event  Info tab. Check Enable Assigned Seating to make this feature available.


There must be a Capacity entered for the event in order to enable Assigned Seating. A warning message will display until the number of seats match the event's capacity.

How to Enable Assigned Seating for an Event

  1. From the left-side navigation, click Seating.

  2. Click + Create New Section. The Create Section window will open.

  3. Enter a name for the section in the Name field.

  4. From the right-side of the window, select the Ticket Types available for that section.

  5. Enter the number of Seats in Section.

  1. Optional: Upload an image in the Image field and/or enter a section Description. The recommended image size is 300x500 px.

  • Click Save & Close.

  • Repeat steps for any additional Sections.

How to Release an Assigned Seat

  1. From the event record, click on the Attendee ID of the Attendee record assigned to the seat to be released.

  2. Update the Status picklist to Cancelled.

  3. Click the Save button.
  4. Click on the hyperlinked Seat number. The Seat record page will open.

  5. Uncheck the Is Assigned checkbox.

  6. Click the Save button.
  7. Navigate to the Assignments related list under the Related section.
  8. Click on the hyperlinked Assignment ID. The Assignment record will open.

  9. Uncheck the Is Active checkbox.

    • Optional: Enter the Unassigned Date field.
  10. Click the Save button.
  11. Return to the Attendee record.
  12. Click on the hyperlinked Seat number.
  13. Delete the Seat number.

  14. Click the Save button.
