Fonteva strongly recommends enabling the reCAPTCHA service to help protect your community site(s) from malicious activities. When this option is enabled, you can view reCAPTCHA traffic metrics across all Fonteva customers using our default account on the force.com domain. Optionally, you could create your own reCAPTCHA account to get targeted metrics specific to your association.
Warning: If your org uses a custom domain instead of the default force.com domain, you must create a unique reCAPTCHA account for your association. Refer to Create a reCAPTCHA Account for instructions.
The reCAPTCHA option is available for Lightning communities in all supported Fonteva releases.
What is CAPTCHA and reCAPTCHA?
CAPTCHA (Completely Automated Public Turing Test To Tell Computers and Humans Apart) is an authentication test designed to distinguish between humans and computers. CAPTCHA is mainly used to prevent spam and other unwanted site activities. For example, CAPTCHA could be configured to ask site visitors to complete a simple math equation before granting access.
reCAPTCHA is a free Google service that uses CAPTCHA technology to protect websites. There are two versions available, v2 and v3. Fonteva supports v2 only, using the “I’m not a robot” Checkbox option. This option requires site visitors to mark a validation checkbox before they can enter your community site. This type of validation generates a probability score based on your users' interactions with your site to determine whether or not the request is from a human or a computer.
